For University of Miami medical students

Medical school opportunities that are actually useful.

A simple route into funding, research, projects, mentors, conferences, leadership, and family medicine career exposure in Miami and beyond.

Scholarships and travel

Start with the UMiami FMIG scholarship tracker. It includes family medicine awards, general medical-student scholarships, and service programs such as NHSC, IHS, and HPSP, with dates and official source links when available.

Research and posters

Research does not have to start as a large funded study. Existing clinical, policy, quality, affordability, rural-health, or health-system work can often become an abstract, poster, chart review, or collaboration when a student has the right mentor and a clear question.

Health-tech and applied projects

UMiami FMIG also surfaces project-based work, including TruCost Health internships and projects around healthcare affordability, price transparency, medication and procedure access, rural and underserved data, product, clinical review, operations, and strategy.

Clinical and career exposure

Family medicine is a useful platform for seeing different practice models because the specialty can intersect with sports medicine, direct primary care, rural practice, addiction medicine, maternal health, geriatrics, palliative care, academic medicine, and ownership.

Leadership and service

FMIG leadership is most useful when it produces a real output: an event, a scholarship pipeline, a service project, a new student resource, a research collaboration, or an improvement to how students find opportunities. The goal is not collecting titles.

Get routed instead of searching everything yourself

The UMiami FMIG interest form lets you choose the categories you actually want: scholarships, travel, volunteering, leadership, research, health-tech, rural medicine, fellowships, mentorship, advocacy, sports medicine, DPC, and events.
